St. Paul, MN – August 21, 2025 — The Hmong Committee of 100 (HC100) concluded its 50 Years of Progress Speaker Series last night with New Life in America, a powerful and emotional program featuring the testimonies of Minnesota’s first Hmong families — Mr. Dang Her (Jan 1976), Mr. Leng Wong (Feb 1976), and Mr. Ya Yang (Mar 1976) — along with heartfelt reflections from Ma Thao, Mai Vang Thao, and Gaoly Yang. Honoring those who first arrived in 1976 and giving voice to stories long silenced, the evening reminded us that remembering our past is not merely a matter of history — it is a profound honor.
For many in attendance, it was a night of raw emotion and long-overdue recognition. “When hardships have been suppressed for 50 years and your voice is finally heard…the emotion is raw and it is real,” reflected an HC100 leader.
HC100 now looks ahead to its grand finale of the 50th Anniversary commemoration — the Gala Celebration of 50 Years of Progress.
